The Wooden Floor Store Partners with roomWIZ for a More Accurate Way to Shop for Flooring

Choosing a new floor online isn’t always easy.

A floor can look completely different depending on the room it’s in, the lighting around it and the colours and furniture it’s paired with. And when you’re making a decision about something that could be in your home for many years, you want to be confident you’ve made the right choice.

That’s why we’ve partnered with roomWIZ to introduce a new way to explore flooring online at The Wooden Floor Store.

We’ve combined accurate digital scanning of our flooring range with a new room visualiser and more realistic product imagery on our website, all designed to make it easier to understand how a floor really looks before making your decision.

Digitally scanned floors for greater accuracy

The first step was making sure the flooring you see online is as representative of the real product as possible.

roomWIZ has digitally scanned 138 products from our range, including all 62 of our hardwood floors, 31 of our laminate floors and 45 of our Waterproof / Vinyl collections.

Rather than simply photographing each floor, the scanning process captures the colour, grain, variation and detail of the actual product. Each digital texture is then carefully colour corrected to create an accurate representation of the physical floor.

This gives us a reliable digital version of each product that can be used throughout our website and visualisation tools.

For customers, that means greater confidence that the floor you are viewing online is representative of the product you’re considering for your home.

Accurate product imagery is important, but flooring never exists in isolation. What really matters is how it works with your room.

Our new roomWIZ floor visualiser lets you upload a photograph of your own space and replace the existing flooring with products from The Wooden Floor Store.

You can quickly switch between different colours, styles and flooring types to compare your options and see which works best alongside your walls, kitchen, furniture and overall interior style.

Instead of trying to imagine how a sample or product photograph might translate across an entire room, you can see a much clearer representation of the finished result.

This is particularly useful when comparing floors that may look quite similar as individual samples but create very different effects when applied across a larger area.

Try a lighter floor. Compare it with a darker oak. Switch between different tones and finishes. You can experiment with different options before narrowing down the floors you want to consider further.

More realistic images of our flooring

We’ve also introduced roomWIZ Content Studio to improve the way our floors are represented throughout our website and marketing.

Previously, like many flooring retailers, we often relied on photographs supplied by customers and other user-generated content to show completed installations.

Real customer homes remain a useful source of inspiration, but there are limitations when those images are being used to represent a specific flooring product. Different cameras, lighting conditions and image editing can make a floor appear lighter, darker, warmer or cooler than it really is.

The quality and style of the photographs can also vary considerably. Content Studio gives our team another way to create high-quality room imagery while using the same accurate digital flooring textures that power our visualiser.

That means the flooring shown within these images is based on the real scanned product, helping us create more consistent and representative imagery across our collections.

Bringing the showroom experience online

Our showrooms will always play an important role in helping customers choose the right flooring, and we’ll continue to offer physical samples so you can see the colour, texture and finish of a product for yourself.

But we also know that more and more of the flooring buying journey now happens online. The aim of introducing roomWIZ is to make that part of the experience better.

You can discover a product online, see a more accurate representation of it, put it into a photograph of your own room, compare it against other floors and then order samples of your favourites before making your final choice.

It removes some of the guesswork from one of the biggest decisions you’ll make when decorating your home. Because choosing a new floor shouldn’t require you to imagine what it might look like.

We want to help you see it.
